Elwyn C. Steelman, 74, of Beaumont, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on September 9, 1938, to Jewel Bowin Steelman and Clyde Steelman. Elwyn was a United States Navy veteran and was a retired sales and production manager in the oil industry. He served as Deacon at First Baptist Church in Lafayette, Louisiana, for thirteen years.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Kathryn Steelman; daughter, Theresa Sudduth and her husband, Scott, of Lafayette, Louisiana; son, Kyle Steelman and his wife, Sara, of Houston; grandchildren, Emily Sudduth, Hunter Sudduth, Ryan Steelman, Kenneth Steelman, and Jacob Steelman; brothers, Darwin Steelman and his wife, Marge, of Margate, New Jersey; Wayne Steelman and his wife, Betty, of College Station; and Jerry Steelman and his wife, Judy, of Jefferson; sister, Barbara Hudson of Marshall; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mr. Steelman will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Downs Funeral Home, 4608 Elysian Fields Road, Marshall. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
