Mary Ruby Lackey, 84, of Nederland, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital, Beaumont. She was born on November 18, 1928, to Amy and Joseph Kiff, Sr., in Eunice, Louisiana. Before retiring, Ruby spent her career working as a registered nurse. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Nederland and participated in the church choir and altar society. Ruby was a loving, prayerful and energetic woman who always had a joke. She was also known to feed anyone that came by. Ruby’s favorite thing of all was her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, W.S. “Sid” Lackey of Nederland; children, Cheryl Chamblee and her husband, James, of Klein; Sue Boudreaux and her husband, Lynn, of Newton; Beth Panzarella and her husband, Robert, of Kingwood; and Barry Lackey and his wife, Laure, of China; grandchildren, Amy Leipzig and her husband, Ben; Laura Franek and her husband, Ron; April Mason; Leslie Gunn and her husband, Brian; Jessica Boudreaux; Bobby Panzarella; Nick Panzarella; Joseph Panzarella; and John Panzarella; and great-grandchildren, Faith Mason, Jake Leipzig, Maggie Franek, Logan Gunn and Tanner Gunn. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Joseph Kiff, Jr. A gathering of Mrs. Lackey’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, c/o St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627, United Board of Missions, 6650 9th Avenue, Port Arthur, Texas 77642, or Reaud House, 3120 College Street, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
