David Payne, 68, of Sour Lake, died Sunday, March 17, 2013.  He was born on October 11, 1944, in Saratoga, to Helen Lorraine Brackin Payne and Alfred “Bubba” Taylor Payne, and was a resident of Sour Lake for many years.

David was a longtime member of Saratoga Lodge 914 A.F. & A.M.  He was the owner of Payne’s Barber Shop for forty-five years.  David was the former mayor of Sour Lake and Fire Chief of Sour Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Payne of Sour Lake; children, Michael Payne and his wife, Angie Denise, of Liberty and Kasie Kibodeaux and her husband, Lewis, of Sour Lake; sister, Roxie Fregia and her husband, Rockey, of Saratoga; grandchildren, Jennifer Noack, Bryttan Noack, Cameron Blake Payne, and Kayley Brooke Payne; and special niece and nephews.

A gathering of David’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Sour Lake, 765 6th Street, Sour Lake, with interment to follow at Felps Cemetery, Thicket.
