Arthur "A.J." James Holmes 
March 14, 1925 - March 16, 2013

Arthur James “A.J.” Holmes, 88, of Hamshire, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on March 14, 1925, to Annie Wells Holmes and James Franklin Holmes, in Daisetta, Texas. A.J. was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II and retired as an operator for Union Oil.

 

Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Frances Holmes; daughters, Tommie Jones and her husband, Alan, of Muldoon and  Patsy Thomas of Lumberton; sons, David Holmes and his wife, Becky, of Cedar Creek and Daniel Ray Holmes of Hamshire; and daughter in law Mavis Holmes of Baytown;  grandchildren, Alan Jones, Jr; Michelle Segassie; Tabitha Holmes; Jessie Holmes; Susie Springer; Denise Njaa; Deedee Alford; Tuesday Hardman and her husband, A.D.; Ara Roden and her husband, Ted; Clarissa Alfaro and her husband, Chris; Crystal Miller and her husband, Mike; William Streety; Deanna Thresher; Michael Brown; Matthew Brown.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; and son, James Franklin Holmes.

 

A memorial service for Mr. Holmes’ will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
