Bessie Lee Leslie, 94, of Fannett, died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Jefferson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Beaumont. A native and lifelong resident of Fannett, she was born to Lillie Phelps Craigen and Henry Lee Craigen, on September 4, 1918. Bessie loved her family and enjoyed the time spent with them. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Fannett, where she devoted much of her life in service teaching discipleship and mission classes. Bessie enjoyed a life of giving and was generous in helping people in need. She had a heart for children and delighted in giving to Baptist organizations and activities that minister to children. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Laidacker and her husband, David, of Fannett; sons, Eugene Aubrey Leslie, Jr. and his wife, Barbara Ann, of Beaumont; and Dale Leslie and his wife, Elizabeth, of Fannett; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Glenn of Fannett; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Eugene “Gene” Leslie; her parents; sisters, Kathryn Heiman and Ethel Meguess; and brother, Zede “Doug” Craigen. A gathering of Mrs. Leslie’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
