Charles “Charlie” Massey, 89, of Beaumont, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. A native of Cottondale, Florida, he was born to Rosabel Griffin Massey and Gideon Hughes Massey, Sr., on May 22, 1923. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and graduate of The University of Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Claudette Guillory Massey; sons, C. Richard Massey, Jr. and Kenneth Massey; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Sue Caruthers.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Evelyn Townsley Massey; second wife, Ola Massey; brothers, G. H. Massey, Jr., James L. Massey, and Guy R. Massey; and sister, Dannye Gehres.

A gathering of Mr. Massey’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.,  Monday, March 18, 2013, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 900 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
