Ruth East, 87, of Fannett, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, surrounded by family at her home. She was born on May 27, 1925, in Fannett, to Elizabeth Rutledge Hargraves and Henry Clarence Hargraves, and had been a lifelong resident of the area.

Ruth was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Fannett. She will be remembered as an excellent cook, loved flowers, but most of all enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of sixty-eight years, Sidney East; daughters, Carolyn Johnson of Fannett; Peggy Enea of Follansbee, West Virginia; Shyrell Frazier and her husband, Dennis, of Hamshire; and Melissa Frazier and her husband, Steve, of Fannett; sons, Darryl East of Fannett and Royce East of Fairmont; grandchildren, Jr., Monica, Natalie, Amber, Rachel, Clay, Steve, Stacy, and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Joey, Matthew, Justin, Eric, Jacob, Brandon, Brian, Atalyssa, Hannah, Zachery, Joshaua, Sylvia, Phyllis, Jyllian, Ashley, Korbin, Jagher, Nixxon, Ava, and Carlee; two great-great-grandchildren “unborn” and on the way; sister, Janie Vayon of Fannett; brother-in-law, Tommy Dearbonne of Fannett; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and great-granddaughter, Katie Blakemore.               

A gathering of Mrs. East’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
