Wallace Raymond Simon 
December 12, 1916 - March 5, 2013

Wallace Raymond Simon, 96, of Stowell, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at The Arboretum, Winnie.

He was born on December 12, 1916, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Mary Domingue Simon and Edmund R. Simon, and had been a resident of the area since 1928.

 

Wallace worked as a heavy equipment operator for thirty-three years before retiring with the Texas Highway Department. He enjoyed gardening, working and caring for his livestock, but most of all being with his family and friends. Wallace was a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church.

 

He is survived by his sons, Andrus Simon and his wife, Claudean; Alvin Simon and his wife, Alice; Rayward Simon and his wife, Carolyn; and Russell Simon and his wife, Mary, all of Winnie; daughter, Diane Zambardino and her husband, Mike of Beaumont; grandchildren, Jeffery Simon, James Simon, Billy Hicks, Todd Zambardino, Mark Zambardino, Michael Simon, Rachel Meguess, Katie Summer, Robyn Wilcox and Kevin Simon; great-grandchildren, Victoria Simon, Angelica Simon, John Simon, Katherine Simon, Jessica Simon, Kacy Watson, Bailee Simon, Chey Anne Meguess, Clayton Meguess, Coy Meguess, Nathan West, Seth Summers, Ian Summers, Tyler Wilcox, Jessie Wilcox, Julianne Wilcox, Hunter Zambardino, Parker Zambardino, Carter Zambardino, Logan Zambardino, Madison Zambardino, Marlea Simon, and Mathew Simon; great-great-grandchildren, Kenley Seals, Cayten Sattler, and Iylah Timmons; brother, Anthony Simon of Lafayette, Louisiana; sister, Lucille LaComb of Vidor; and numerous other family members and friends.

 

A gathering of Mr. Simon's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Broussard's, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
