Louis William Tuer, 89, of New Braunfels and formerly of Rockport and Wildwood, died Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the The Sterling House, New Braunfels.  He was born on November 14, 1923, in Liberty, to Iva Mae Bryant Tuer and Louis Granville Tuer.  He was a United States Marine Corp veteran having fought in Iwo Jima. Louis was a past Master and sixty-five year member of Liberty Lodge #48 A.F. & A.M. and Flatonia Lodge #436 A.F. & A.M. He also was the recipient of the Golden Trowel Award. He was a retired oilfield pumper/gauger having worked for Occidental Petroleum. Louis enjoyed playing golf, watching tennis, woodworking, bar-b-queing, and working crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his son, Gary Louis Tuer and his wife, Patsy, of Mountain Home; daughter, Renee’ Marie Rinehart and her husband, Mark, of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Stacy Tuer Castillo and her husband, John; Lance Rinehart; and Travis Tuer and his wife, Rebekah; great-grandchildren, Aireka Rinehart, Elvin Jones, Bianca Castillo, Chase Castillo, Ava Castillo, and Garrett Tuer; cousin, Janie Nowell of Spring; and brother-in-law, Robert Graham of Lufkin.

A gathering of Mr. Tuer’s family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m, with his funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  Interment with Masonic graveside rites will follow at Village Mills Cemetery, Village Mills.
