Trudeen Dempsey Swain 
September 25, 1927 - February 25, 2013

Trudeen Dempsey Swain, 85, of Beaumont, passed away at Harbor Hospice on Monday, February 25, 2013. Trudeen was born on September 25, 1927, in Houston, Texas, to the late James J. Dempsey Sr. and Gertrude Mixson Dempsey. She attended Lamar College and Incarnate Word College in San Antonio.

 

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, David Harrison Swain, Sr.; daughter, Therese Anne “Teri” Swain; granddaughter, Molly Ann Swain; sister, Mary Dempsey Sonnier; niece, Cheryl “Cup” Sonnier Dana; and nephew, James “Jimmy” Sonnier.

 

Survivors include her brother, Monsignor James J. Dempsey; daughter, Trudee Swain Markham and her husband, Barry, of Nederland; sons, David H. Swain, Jr. and his wife, Brenda Edwards Swain, of New Braunfels; Curtis Swain; and Patrick Swain and his wife, Donna Crabbe Swain, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Therese Markham of Nederland and Joseph Markham of Nashville, Tennessee; Trey Swain and his wife, Brittany Murray Swain of San Marcos; Courtney Swain; and Michael Swain and his fiancée, Allyson Westervet, all of New Braunfels; Sam Swain and his wife, Kimberly Gonze Swain, and Max Swain, all of Austin; Harris Swain, Hannah Swain, and Hope Swain, all of Beaumont; step-grandchildren, Boyce Markham, Tina Woodard, and Cara Westbury; great-grandchildren, Tyler Swain and Adalynn Swain, both of San Marcos, and Weston Swain of Austin.

A gathering of Mrs. Swain’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
