Juanita Whittington, 93, of Kountze, died Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Village Creek Rehab and Nursing Center, Lumberton.  Juanita was born on November 23, 1919, in Grayburg, to Ethel Gunter McShan and Curtis Luther McShan, and had been a longtime resident of Hardin County.

Survivors include her children, Nelda Ellis, Betty Locke, Kimberly Hemby, Joey Whittington, all of Lumberton; and Arlene Rodriguez of Silsbee; brother, Douglas McShan of Sour Lake; sister, Maxine Higbie of Tyler; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husbands, J.D. Whittington and Joe Rodriguez; and son, Darrell Whittington.

A gathering of Mrs. Whittington’s family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  Her graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake.
