George Kyler Dunlap, Sr., 89, of Honey Island, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.  He was born in August 19, 1923, in Village Mills, to Mary J. Stutts Dunlap and Earnest Dunlap.  George was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II and was a retired power barge operator with the National Reserve Fleet in Nederland. He was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Honey Island.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Talmadge Dunlap; sons, George Kyler Dunlap, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Richmond and Thomas Dale Dunlap and his wife, Wanda, of Highland Village; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Gwen Smethers of Beaumont.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers W. H. Dunlap, E.L. Dunlap, and Van Dunlap.

A gathering of Mr. Dunlap’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Interment will follow at Holland Cemetery, Kountze.
