Gervais Matte 
September 23, 1928 - December 23, 2012

Gervais Matte, 84, of Port Acres, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at The Medical Center of

Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. Born September 23, 1928, in Church Point, Louisiana, he was the son of  Elena and  Olivier Matte. A veteran of the United States Army, Gervais was employed with Gulf Oil for over thirty-six years before his retirement. Gervais was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #3195, and O.C.A.W. Union, Port Arthur.  In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to country music, barbequing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

 

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Belle Matte of Port Acres; daughters, Bonnie Matte Daigle and

her husband, E.J., of Taylor Landing and Sherry Vines and her husband, Jeff, of Port Acres;

son, Keith Matte and his wife, Dana, of Labelle; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Leo Matte and his wife, Lauris; and sister, Rita Mae Premeaux.

Gervais is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wilma Oaks; and brother, Evans “China”

Matte.

 

A gathering of Mr. Matte’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, at St. Therese, the Little Flower Catholic Church, 6412 Garnet Avenue, Port Acres, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
