Dorothy Donovan 
September 22, 1925 - December 11, 2012

Dorothy Donovan, 87, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Jefferson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Beaumont. A native of Beaumont, she was born to Dorothy Southerland Jones Tetley and Albert Leo Tetley, Sr.

 

She was a teacher for thirty-five years for South Park ISD and “coached” at Sallis Curtis Elementary. She received her Master’s Degree in special education and completed her career as a special math teacher at Sallie Curtis and Felh Elementary. Dorothy was a member of St. Anthony Altar Society and was a volunteer at Holy Family Retreat Center and Some Other Place.

 

Survivors include her sons, David F. Donovan of Dallas and Mike Donovan and his wife, Stella of Houston; daughters, Peggy Donovan of Beaumont and Patti Hinson and her husband, Richard of Houston; brother, Jimmy Tetley and his wife, Beverly, of Redding, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Ruby Tetley of Beaumont;  grandchildren, Melissa and Jim Balcom, Adam and Brandy Campbell, Jessica and Greg Witherow, Aaron and Mily Campbell, and Nick and Jennifer Donovan; great-grandchildren, Talon Balcom, Addikan Campbell, Aerial Campbell, River Balcom, Emma Donovan, Michael Campbell, and Jack Donovan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Albert Jr. and King Cain; and sister, Camilla Shilling.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Donovan’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2012, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
