Mitchell Downs, 23, of Lumberton, died Thursday, December 6, 2012. He was born on July 16, 1989, in Beaumont, and had been a lifelong of the Lumberton area.

Survivors include his father, Gary Whitmire and his wife, Shane, of China; mother, Terry Ann Wyatt of Beaumont; stepmother, Krystal Whitmire and her husband Steve McBroom, of Lumberton; siblings, R.J. Downs and his wife, Caressa, of Beaumont; Nikita Downs and her husband, Brett, of Beaumont; Holly Downs and Kindal Potts, of Lumberton; Gary Whitmire III; Dillon Elmore, both of China; Terry Carrington and Maranda Dickey, of Lumberton; Gwen Carrington and Matt Perry, of Lumberton; grandmothers, Debra Fisher of League City, Kandace Harris of Lumberton, and Toni Watt of Beaumont; aunt, Rebecca Fisher of League City; and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A gathering of Mitchell’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2012, at Broussard’s with interment to follow at China Cemetery, China.
