Donald W. Martin 
December 4, 1923 - December 2, 2012

Donald W. Martin, 88, of Lumberton, died Sunday, December 2, 2012, in Kountze.  He was born in Colliers, West Virginia, to Mary Oiler and Lester Martin.  He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.   Survivors include his daughters, Sherry Midkiff and her husband, Harry, of Lumberton, and Michelle Harshman and her husband, Donald, of Lufkin; grandchildren, Stacey Tyler of Lumberton; Ashley Brew and her husband, Christopher, of Beaumont; Amanda Midkiff and her husband, Kent Brown, of Kirbyville; William Charles Harshman of Lufkin; and Beth Squyres and her husband, Josh, of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Grace Martin, Anna Belle Martin, Ian Tyler, Jackson, Zachary, and Emma Squyres, and Kendahl Brown; and brother, Marion Martin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Thornhill Martin.   His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Broussard's, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee, with his graveside service at 2:30 p.m., at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston.   "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.  Rather, we should thank God that such men lived."   by George S.
