Eldred Brown, 91, of Houston, formerly of Beaumont, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012. A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, she was born on August 23, 1921, to Dora Coker Kirkpatrick and James Kirkpatrick. Eldred was very loved by her family and many friends.

She was an avid golfer and had won many awards and trophies; Eldred was also an avid gardener. She was very active with her six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, and also enjoyed living in Houston where she was socially active at The Terrace at Memorial City with her friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her son, Richard I. Brown and his wife, Rita, of Harrison, Arkansas; daughter, Gloria Koshkin and her husband, Joe, of Houston; grandchildren, Barry Brown and his wife, Lisa and Brad Brown and his wife, Frances, all of Harrison, Arkansas; Wade Brown and his wife, Olivia, of Westlake, Louisiana; Jarrod Brown and his wife, Candra, of Harrison, Arkansas; Jeff Koshkin and his wife, Carrie, of Houston; and Jay Koshkin and his wife, Katie, of Dallas; and great-grandchildren, Matthew and his wife, Kailey, Nicholas, Joshua, Haley, Dalton, Bryan, Bryttany, Taylor, Lara, Callie, Garrett, Jason, and Ryley.

A gathering of Mrs. Brown’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2012, at Broussard’s. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
