John Richard Green 
May 5, 1941 - November 29, 2012

John Richard Green, 71, of Beaumont, went to meet his heavenly Father on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas, Beaumont.

 

John was born on May 5, 1941, to Meda “Lucile” Shaw Green and Clarence Green. He was a lifelong resident of Beaumont and graduated from South Park High School in 1961. John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam and later retired from Frito Lay, Inc. after thirty years of service in the sales department. He was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church and Forest Park Lion’s Club.

 

John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching NASCAR racing and the Dallas Cowboys. During his earlier years, he was an avid league bowler and traveled to several competitions around the country. John loved his dogs, Bo & JJ.

 

Survivors include his wife of forty years, Loretta Young Green; sons, Randy Green and his wife, Liz, of Silsbee and Michael Green and his wife, Jennifer, of Lumberton; brothers, Larry Green and his wife, Kathy, of Carrollton and Kenneth Green and his wife, Diane, of Kirbyville; granddaughter, Kaianna Green of Lumberton; five step-grandchildren, Dustin, Cole, Zachary, Michele & Major; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. John is preceded in death by his parents.

 

A gathering of Mr. Green’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont. Serving as pallbearers are a few of his co-workers and friends: Bill Daniels, Murphy DeMarcay, Shelton Broussard, Michael Westfall, Ron Landry and Ernie Harrell.

 

The family would like to thank Dr. Howard Wilcox, Dr. Leldon Sweet & Dr. Harold Bencowitz for their several years of caring for John. Also, a special thanks to the Baptist Hospital ICU staff that took such great care and showed much compassion through this very difficult time.

 

Forest Park United Methodist Church, 225 South Major Drive, Beaumont, will be hosting a reception immediately following the graveside service.
