Catherine Comeaux Johnson, 78, of High Island, died Sunday, November 18, 2012. She was born on December 30, 1933, in Port Bolivar, to Celeste Thibodeaux Comeaux and Delino Comeaux. Catherine lived in the Port Bolivar-High Island areas all her life. She graduated as Salutatorian of Dominican Catholic High School, Galveston. Catherine was High Island Cardinals number one sports fan, volunteering at school, enjoyed doing scrapbooking, and had been a waitress at Gulfway Restaurant for twenty-three years. Catherine is survived by her sons, Glenn Johnson of High Island; Hershel Johnson of LaPorte, Percy Johnson of High Island, and Kenneth Johnson and his wife, Robbie, of Santa Fe, Texas; daughter, Karen Richardson of High Island; sisters, Yvonne Hatcher and her husband, Harry, of Fannett and Flora Mae Cox of League City; brother-in-law, Lloyd Fannon of Alvarado; grandchildren, Hailey Mendoza, Michael Johnson, Aarron Johnson, Cady Richardson, Christopher Richardson and Payton Johnson; great-grandchildren, Anthony Mendoza, Mia Mendoza, and Lane Johnson; numerous family members and friends, including her best friend, Helen Allen, who loved to accompany her shopping, eating out, going to Cardinal sporting events, and trips to the casinos. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Johnson; brothers, Warren Comeaux, Arnold Comeaux, and LeRoy Comeaux; and sister, Jeannette Fannon. A gathering of Mrs. Johnson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2012, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2012, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie with interment to follow at High Island Cemetery.
