Reverend Leslie Gilbert Hooks, Sr., 83, of Jasper, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012, in Jasper. He was born on December 30, 1928, in Survivors include his wife, Hazel Hooks; daughters, Juanita Chance of Fred; Deborah Milligan and her husband, Robert, of Silsbee; and Mary Curtis and her husband, Eddie, of Silsbee; son, Mike Granger and his wife, Amanda, of Huntington; grandchildren, CaSondra Menise Chance Simon “Sandy” and her husband, Steve, of Evadale; Andrew Leslie Melvin Hooks “Andy” and his wife, Kerry, of Spanaway, Washington; Leslie Gilbert Hooks III and his wife, Hannah, of Vidor; KaSheena Hooks Hollis and her husband, Jeremy, of Fort Collins, Colorado; KaTreena Hooks Nolan and her husband, Keith, of Woodville; Buford Edward Curtis III “Trey” and his wife, Stephanie, of Silsbee; Brian Keith Curtis and his wife, Jennifer, of Silsbee; Stephen Allen Curtis and his wife, Courtney, of Lumberton; Joshua Lynn Granger, Chris Jenkins; Kadon Jenkins; and Cody Lilly, all of Huntington; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Verna Maye West Hooks; son, Leslie Gilbert Hooks, Jr.; son-in-law, Burl Gaylon Chance; parents; and brothers, Norman Hooks and Ralph Hooks. The family would like to send special thanks to Lakes Area Hospice of Jasper, Timberlake Health and Rehabilitation, Military Honor Guard, and Silsbee Police Department.
