George “Dunie” Murphy, Sr., 78, of Beaumont, died Monday, November 12, 2012. He was born on August 20, 1934, in Helbig, to Angie Tallina Murphy and Ben Edward Murphy, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. George retired as owner of Murphy’s Upholstery.

Survivors include his children, Sherrie Colligan and her husband, Jimmy; George E. Murphy, Jr., and his wife, Cathy; Michael Murphy and his wife, Ruthie; and Cindy Cobb and her husband, Darrell; brother, James Earl Murphy; grandchildren, April Peyres, Angie Herrin, Mindi Whitehead, Trey Murphy, Brandon Murphy, Drew Murphy, Abbie Murphy, and Seth Murphy; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Murphy, Annie Whitehead, Elle Murphy, Heidi Whitehead, Fisher Murphy, and Giv Murphy.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of fifty-four years, Blanche Elizabeth Standfield Murphy; and brother, Carroll Donald Murphy.

A gathering of Mr. Murphy’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Bland Cemetery, Orange.
