Ruth Hall Leoffler, 91, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012, and Orville Lee “Leo” Leoffler, 94, met her on that “other shore” Thursday, November 01, 2012.

Ruth was born on August 7, 1921, in Virginia, Minnesota, to Ruth Mae Hall and Thomas Lewis Hall. Leo was born January 5, 1918, to Albert Leoffler and Olla Belle Leoffler, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mama and Daddy met while working at Sears in Beaumont. Ruth had a bet with one of her co-workers as to who would get a date with the new handsome stock boy. Our mama, Ruth, won that bet and Daddy was the luckiest man on earth. They celebrated seventy-one years of marriage on October 1, 2012.

Leo proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and after being discharged worked for Southern Pacific Railroad until retirement in 1978. Mama was office manager of J.J. Newberry’s Company until her retirement. They then moved from Beaumont to Kirbyville where they developed and operated “Leoffler Springs” Spring Water Company.

They are survived by their daughters, Kathryn Deorsam and her husband, Larry; Linda Taylor; Jennifer Tice and her husband, Cliff; and Diane Rochelli and her husband, Phil; grandchildren, Brian Deorsam, Carrie Deorsam, Erin Taylor Hassell and her husband, Dr. Jonathan Hassell; Dr. Rachel Rochelli-Charles and her husband, Brett Charles; and Kathryn Rochelli Barker and her husband, Dr. Jared Barker; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Rochelli and Benjamin Barker; and Leo’s sister, Ina Mauldin.
