Lorraine Brackin Payne, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Monday, the 29th of October, 2012 at the age of 91 at The Methodist Hospital in Houston.  Lorraine was born on the 16th of November, 1920 in Thicket to Roxie Annie Morris Brackin and William Monroe Brackin.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and by her beloved husband of 65 years, Alfred Taylor “Bubba” Payne.  Lorraine was a longtime resident of Saratoga and member of the First Baptist Church of Saratoga.  She was a very giving, caring and sharing person and you never left her house empty handed! 

Lorraine is survived by her son, David Payne and his wife Karen, daughter Roxie Payne Fregia, and her husband, Rockey, grandsons, Michael Payne, Chris Fregia and his wife Diana, granddaughters, Kasie Kibodeaux and her husband, Lewis, and Heather Fregia.  She is also survived by her eight great grandchildren, Cheyenne Payne, Claire Fregia, Jenna Fregia, Maddy Fregia, Jennifer Noack, Bryttan Noack and Zachary Rosado and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.    

A gathering of Lorraine’s family and friends will take place on Thursday, the 1st of November from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s Mortuary located at 530 West Monroe in Kountze.  On Friday, the 2nd of November, an additional gathering will take place at Broussard’s at 10:00 a.m. with a celebration of her life to follow at 11:00 a.m. which will include an Eastern Star Service by Kountze Eastern Star Chapter #724.  Interment will follow at Felps Cemetery in Thicket.

Serving as pallbearers will be John E. Payne, Jr., Paul McCoy, Lewis Kibodeaux, Stan Barron, Tommy Ruffino, and Dwight Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Shaw, Alf Shaw,Wayne Brackin, Darrell Brackin, and John Taylor Payne.
