Bertha A. Pratt Houde LaPerriere, 96, formerly of Waterbury, CT, peacefully passed into the arms of God on Thursday, October 25, 2012, in Beaumont, TX, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on October 30, 1915, in Waterbury, and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alma Pratt. Bertha graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1936. In 1981, she retired from Waterbury Hospital Newborn Nursery and remained honorary member of the WHSN Alumni Association. She was a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. Bertha was a devout Catholic and loved Sunday services and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Gadabouts which enabled her to follow her dreams of traveling the world.

Survivors include her daughter, Maureen Bisaillon Krebs of Wolcott, CT; daughter-in-law, Ellen Houde of Beaumont, with whom she made her home; grandchildren, Michelle Houde Mayo, Richard Bisaillon, Renée Houde Eads, and Nicole Bisaillon Kirby; great-grandchildren, Brittany Eads, Ivy Kirby, Camille Kirby, and Lane Mayo; and brother, Raymond Pratt and his family.

Bertha is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert J. Houde and Florent LaPerriere; and son, Robert R. Houde.

A gathering of Mrs. LaPerriere’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a Christian Vigil at 5:00 p.m., and a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

There will be an additional gathering from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Woodtick Funeral Home, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, CT. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2012 at Shrine of St. Anne, 515 South Main Street, Waterbury, CT, with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, CT.
