Grace Allen Yates, 90, of Beaumont, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation, Beaumont. She was born on July 24, 1922, to Minnie Gillie Cutchen and Willard Cutchen, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and was raised in Gadsden, Alabama, before moving to Texas in 1957. Granny loved and lived life to the fullest. She loved her family and her extended family, as she was “Granny” to so many people that loved her very much. Granny never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. A very special mother, grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her over the years. Grace is survived by her children, George T. Allen and his wife, Shirley, of Evadale; Barbara Kristiansen and her husband, Fred, of Beaumont; and Gene Allen and his wife, Kim, of Orange; grandchildren, Tracy Allen, Natalie Martinets, Robin Humphrey, Kimberly Hall, Kristin Wilson, Dustin Allen, Stormy Hamilton, Lauren Skomer, and Jessica Varner; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husbands, George T. Allen, Sr. and Robert G. Yates; daughter, Jackie Delahoussaye; grandson, Chad Allen; and great-grandson, Blake Allen. A memorial service for Mrs. Yates will be 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the caregivers at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation and to her special caregivers, Beatrice Bean, Cassandra Randle, and Pearlie Noble.
