James LaRive, Sr., 61, was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 13, 2012, in Sarasota, Florida. He was born in Beaumont, Texas to Hazel Naquin LaRive and Andrew LaRive, Jr. on February 17, 1951.

James was also known as “Jimbo” and was a longtime resident of High Island and the peninsula. He attended High Island High School, and then married his school sweetheart, Mary Smith. James was a laborer, construction worker, fisherman, and landscaper.

His survivors include his daughter, Tressa Hanly and her husband, Mike of Crosby; sons, James LaRive, Jr. and his wife, Parri of Brenham; Clint LaRive and his wife, Hannah of Crosby; Noah LaRive of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Chelsea Hanly, Bailey LaRive, Emily LaRive, Jayden LaRive, Tyler LaRive, Taylor LaRive, Laura Rosen and Katie Rosen; sisters, Gwen Edgar of High Island and Peggy LaRive of Austin; and numerous other family members and friends.
