William Turner Sanders

William Turner Sanders, age 70, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 16, 2012. Bill, the son of Lessie Lorain Dixon and Whitfield Candi Sanders, was born on January 9, 1942, in Henderson. Bill accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized in March 1960. One of his greatest joys was becoming a Mason in March 1966. He became a Scottish Rite Mason in March 1971, and joined El Mina Shrine in 1972. Bill became a York Rite Mason in 1990. He is also affiliated with Prince Charles Lodge 153 of Kelowna, British Columbia and Kootenay Lodge 15 of Revelstoke, British Columbia. Bill became a Millwright Apprentice and a Millwright Journeyman in 1967. After working at the millwright trade with various companies, he went on staff with the Lummus Company in 1974. Bill earned a bachelor’s degree in construction in 1979. Bill traveled and worked internationally including North America, South America, The Middle East, Asia, China, and Russia. Living and working in some of the most beautiful places on earth he never lost his love for Texas. Bill is survived by his wife, Eva Paula Sanders of Kelowna, British Columbia; sons, Michael Sanders and his wife, Courtney, of Arlington; and Mark Alan Sanders of Arlington; daughters, Alisa Sanders of Kingwood; Erica Cook and her husband, Kedge, of Clear Lake; Erin James and her husband, Dustin, of Bridge City; stepchildren, Emma Louise and Dylan John Flegg, both of Kelowna, British Columbia; grandchildren, Kendall, Kelly, Zachary, Michael, Aimee, Ashley, Sloane, Jennifer, Madison, Kaitlyn, Logan, Ryan, and Carlianna; brothers, John Ross Sanders, James Sanders, Robert Williams, Robert Sanders, Murray Williams, and Emmitt Sanders; and sisters, Carol Purdy, Cindy Powdrill, and Margie Sanders Roffene. A gathering of Mr. Sanders’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Cooke Memorial Cemetery, Liberty.
