Catherine Sue Sears
April 9, 1937 - October 14, 2012 |
Catherine Sue Sears, 75, of Beaumont, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, October 14, 2012. She was born on April 9, 1937, to Vina Fuselier Darbonne and Cleveland Darbonne in Oakdale, Louisiana. Her family relocated to Beaumont in 1940 and Catherine attended Pietzsch Elementary, MacArthur Junior High School and graduated from South Park High School in 1955. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Wayne, and they were married for fifty-seven wonderful years. She was a member of Lamar Baptist Church for more than fifty-five years. Lamar Baptist was a place of great comfort and good friends for Catherine and Wayne. Catherine worked for Lamar Library in the Order Department for twenty-five years; she also had many friends there as well. However, she enjoyed retirement, saying “she was busier now than when she was working.” Catherine loved being a wife, mother and best of all a grandmother. She enjoyed each and every moment she spent with her grandchildren. All the grandchildren loved their “Granny”. Catherine loved working puzzles and reading a good mystery. Everything stopped at 6:30, so she and Wayne could enjoy “Wheel of Fortune”. Catherine was loved by many and will be missed by all. Survivors include her husband, Lew Wayne Sears; daughter, Debora Sears Evans; son, Tracy Sears and his wife, Cyndy; grandchildren, Mollie Evans, Mindy Evans, and Ashlyn Hammack; and great-grandchildren, Alexis Lorio and Thomas Lorio. She is preceded in death by her parents; and granddaughter, Emily Sears; great-granddaughter, Olivia Catherine Whitten; and son-in-law, Randy Evans. A gathering of Mrs. Sears’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
