Leatrice Sonnier, 80, of Port Acres, died Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland.  She was born February 21, 1932, to Rita Fontenot Fuselier and Leon Fuselier in Elton, Louisiana.  Mrs. Sonnier retired from St. Mary Hospital after twenty years of service.  She enjoyed traveling and spending time at the camp in Toledo Bend.  Family and friends will remember her as an excellent cook.   

Survivors include her husband of sixty-six years, Ernest “Coonie” Sonnier; son, Ernest “Cookie” Sonnier, Jr. and his wife, Jane of Fannett; daughter, Dianna Wright and her husband, Richard of Port Acres; grandchildren, David Sonnier and his wife, Kristi; Jerry Sonnier and his wife, Misty; Karl Wright and his wife, Traci; Debbie Henry and her husband, Jeff; Jeffrey Wright and his wife, Stormy; Deidra Mayer and her husband, Bradley; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of extended relatives and friends.

A gathering of Mrs. Sonnier’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at St. Therese the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church, 6412 Garnet Avenue, Port Arthur, Texas, with entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
