Eleanor Deaton, 87, of Hamshire, died Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the Arboretum of Winnie. Born July 3, 1925, in Bremen, Indiana, she was the daughter of Goldie Phend Heckaman and Schyler Heckaman.  Mrs. Deaton was a longtime resident of Hamshire.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Bartley and her husband, Sam, of Hamshire; and Tamra Basye and her husband, Randy, all of Hamshire; sons, Donnie Deaton; Carl Deaton and his wife, Tootie, all of Hamshire; and Billy Deaton and his wife, Joan, of Stowell; grandchildren, Becky Swearengin, Michael Allen, William Keel, Shelby Basye, Jolie Basye, Robert Deaton, David Deaton, and Josh Deaton; great-grandchildren, Abby Allen and Sara Asta; brother, Gerald “Pink” Heckaman and his wife, Verna of Hamshire, and sister, Mae Melancon, and her husband, Joe, of Hamshire.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John Carl Deaton.

A gathering of Mrs. Deaton’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 24, 2012, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2012, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
