Anthony "Tony" Lee Marcus

Anthony Lee “Tony” Marcus, 58, of Sour Lake, was granted his angel wings on Sunday, September 16, 2012. He was born on October 30, 1953, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Beverly Jean McNamara Marcus and Lloyd Jacob Marcus, and had been a longtime resident of the area. He has touched many lives through his eight and a half year courageous battle with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by his devoted wife, daughter, family, and friends. Tony is a retiree of ExxonMobil, Beaumont and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, China. He was an avid fisherman, sports enthusiast, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Tony and Brenda spent many memorable years at their vacation home in Gilchrist, where they enjoyed fishing and spending time on the beach. Tony is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Brenda; daughter, Kayla Marcus of Beaumont; mother, Beverly Jean McNamara Marcus of China; sister, Chelle Courville and her husband, Richard, of China; brothers, Michael Marcus and his wife, Virginia, of Bedias; and Edwin Marcus and his wife, Paula, of Sour Lake; mother and father-in-law, Bertha and R.E. Leger of Beaumont; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, godchildren, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Jacob Marcus; maternal grandparents, Lois and George McNamara; and paternal grandparents, Bertie and James Bo Potter. A gathering of Mr. Marcus’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 245 West Highway 90, China, with interment to follow at China Cemetery, China. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston for their expertise and compassion throughout Tony’s care.
