Hazel Boullion Cahanin, 93, of LaBelle, passed away September 12, 2012, at her residence. She was born on February 17, 1919, in Rayne, Louisiana, to Eugene and Angelle Cormier Boullion. She married Elmer Cahanin June 18, 1939, in Rayne, Louisiana, and later settled in Labelle, Texas in 1946. Hazel was a homemaker. She enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hazel was a happy, loving, wonderful spirit who will be missed by many.  

She is survived by her daughter, Janell Cahanin Johnson; sister, Mildred Campbell; granddaughters, Terre Breed and her husband Johnny; Jerre Croley and her husband, Jim; Angél Winkler and her husband, Howard; and Brandy Simon; great-grandchildren, Ryan Leger, Logan Simon, Tristin Croley, Brooke Barnett, Danielle Winkler, Rikki Winkler, Josh Breed and Cole Breed; great-great-grandchildren, Marissa and Hanna Barnett; niece, Marie Prince; and many other nieces and nephews.

Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Cahanin; sisters, Bernice Alleman, Lydia Terro, and Ruby Boullion

A gathering of Mrs. Cahanin’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012, at St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church, 6412 Garnet Avenue, Port Arthur, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
