Charles "Lindy" Linberg Romere 
August 13, 1927 - September 2, 2012

Charles Linberg “Lindy’ Romere, 85, of Winnie, died Sunday, September  2, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on August 13, 1927, in Beaumont, to Mariette Ledet Romere and Joseph Elphage Romere, and had lived in Winnie for thirty-six years.

 

Charles was a United States Navy veteran having served during World War II. He retired from Sun Oil after forty-two years of dedicated service.  Charles was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, St. Louis Knights of Columbus, and St. Louis Catholic Church. Charles also worked as a doodle bugger, and was an excellent carpenter and general repairer. There was nothing he could not build or repair. Charles enjoyed bowling, football, and relaxing in front of the television. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Charles traveled extensively with his wife, Beulah, to wherever the next hitch took them. 

 

He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Beulah; daughters, Carla Romere of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Regina Banfield and her husband, Allen, of Springfield, Missouri; Donna Gehrels and her husband, James, of Winnie; Brenda McLeod and her husband, Mark, of Topeka, Kansas; and Lisa Welter and her husband, Jason, of Porter; sons, Martin Romere of Houston, Kevin Romere of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Tobin Romere of Thornton, Colorado; grandchildren, Tyler Kahla, Kris Kahla, Rachel Dispenza, Andy McLeod, Zach McLeod, Ryan McLeod, Caity McLeod, Connor McLeod, Sara McLeod, Nick Thomas, Hannah Thomas, Brina Welter, Jacob Welter, and Kori Romere; great-grandchildren, Brinnen Sikes, Madison Kahla, and Kannon McLeod; brother, John Mack Romere of Sugar Land; and numerous other family members and friends.

 

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Anne Provost, Joyce Fertitta, and Verna Randolph.

 

A gathering of Mr. Romere’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., Monday, September 3, 2012, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
