Dr. Mark W. Slater, beloved husband, son, and father passed away peacefully in his sleep sometime in the early morning of October 30, 2004.  He died warm in his bed next to his wife, Melissa and young son, Michael.  A native of Fort Worth and resident of Galveston for seven years and LaBelle for the last four years, Dr. Slater was an Emergency Room Doctor at Christus St. Elizabeth and Mid-Jefferson Hospitals.

He is survived by his wife of eight years and three children, Lauren is six years old, Cailey is four and a half, and Michael is eighteen months.  He is also survived by his parents, Duane and Rita Slater of Fort Worth; brother, Steve Slater of San Antonio; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Karen Latta of LaBelle

As I write this, I still can’t believe my husband is gone.  We loved each other from the moment we met and that love will reach from this world to heaven until he comes to get me.  May God bless all of the wonderful friends and family helping us through this.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at Trinity United Methodist Church under the direction of  Broussard’s, 1605 N Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of family and friends will be Monday evening, November 1, 2004 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Mortuary.
