Robert T, Stokes, 76, of Honey Island, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012, with his family by his side in Houston.  Robert was born August 18, 1936, in Port Neches, to Joy and Robert Henry Stokes.

Robert was a member of the Pipefitter’s Local 195 and worked as a pipefitter/welder until he and his son opened Stokes Tire and Service Center in 1989.  He spent his time there until his retirement in 2011.  In his spare time, Robert enjoyed fishing and fast cars, especially his ’32 Ford.  He and his wife, Annette, spent many weekends at their Toledo Bend lake house and attending car shows.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Stokes; mother, Joy D. Stokes of Kountze; children, Deb Turner and her husband, Chuck, of Honey Island; and Brad and his fiancee’, Kathy Sikes Young, of Lumberton; granddaughter, Courtney Johnson of Houston, and her fiance’, Frank Whipps, of Groves; half brother, Ricky Stokes of Kirbyville; and half sister, Darlene Sumerall of Village Mills.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Henry Stokes.

A gathering of Robert’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  His graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 24, 2012, at Jordan Cemetery, FM 1293 and FM 1003 South, Kountze.
