Marie LeClere Simpson, 85, of Silsbee, died Sunday, August 19, 2012.  She was born on November 21, 1926, in Woodville, to Susan Elizabeth Williams and Robert Payne Chapman. 

Survivors include her husband, Doward Simpson; daughter-in-law, Lynnette Simpson Williard; grandchildren, Michael Simpson and his wife, Lisa, of Spurger, Heath Allen Simpson of Beaumont, Manson Fannett of Spurger, Faith Cheyanne Simpson and Shawnee Simpson both of Silsbee; and great-grandchildren, Christian, Ashton, Cole Allen, and Kaden Simpson all of Spurger.  She is preceded in death by her son, Doward Allen "Poncho" Simpson; and sisters and brothers, Dora Lee Higdon, Robert Josephine Hargis, James Chapman, Marie Elizabeth Bell, Joe Payne Chapman, and Hattie Chapman.

A gathering of Mrs. Simpson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Turner Branch Cemetery, Spurger.
