Sandy Porter, 84, of Nederland, died Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. He was born on September 7, 1927, in Houston, to Fannie Mae Lee and Sandy L. Porter. Sandy was a veteran of the United States Army and employed as an operator with Gulf Oil for many years before his retirement. Following his retirement he opened his own flea market shop which was a labor of love. Sandy was a member of Cosmopolitan Lodge #872, A.F. & A.M., and also a proud member of OCAW Local #423. He is survived by his daughters, Madison Sedtal and her husband, Allen; and Cathy Porter, all of Nederland; and Diana Porter of McKinney; grandchildren, Christie Huckaby and her husband, Robbie, of Plano; Trey Williams and Bailey Williams, both of McKinney; and Casey Spivey of Nederland; brother, Charles Porter and his wife, Betty, of Beaumont; and sister, Lola Reynolds of Conroe. Sandy had two ex-wives, both of whom he continued to care about, Eva Robins and Shirley Porter. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marie Morgan and Fannie Chancellor. A gathering of Mr. Porter’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m. with his funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A private family committal will be held at a later date.
