Wallace Edward Elliott
December 6, 1934 - August 17, 2012

In 1957, Wally Elliott, a native of Choctaw County, Alabama, graduated from Auburn University and made his way to Southeast Texas to put his shiny new engineering degree to work. He settled into a satisfying career with Texaco, and was always very proud of that association. He fell in love and married Nancy Elizabeth Cryer, who preceded him in passing. On August 17, 2012, they were reunited.

Together, they had a wonderful, rewarding life that included one bouncing baby boy, Steven. Steve Elliott and his bride, Peggy, are the surviving members of Wally's family in Texas. He is also survived by siblings Carole Bryan, Levi Griffin and Retta Ann Pike; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Throughout his life, Lieutenant Colonel Elliott was proud to serve in the United States Army Reserve and retired from that institution after more than two decades of service. He enjoyed bass fishing, college football, good friends, and the occasional trip to a gaming establishment. Wally was instrumental in the creation of the Humane Society of Southeast Texas animal shelter in Beaumont.

In these tough economic times, he would not want you to send flowers. Please just perform an act of kindness or beauty in his memory.

A gathering of Wally’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 20, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A private family committal will be held at a later date.

Please come as you are and share memories of Wally Elliott - Husband, Father, Friend.
