Mary Lou Martines 
July 25, 1921 - August 13, 2012

Mary Lou Martines, 91, of Beaumont, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012, at her home. She was born on July 25, 1921, in Nacogdoches, to William and Lena B. Ramos, and was a longtime resident of the area. She retired as owner of Martines Wrecking Yard in 1995. In addition to being a successful business owner, Mary was a founding member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.

 

Mary was affectionately called “Queen” by her children. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her Maw Maw. Mary was proud of her family and was loved by all. She will be missed.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Martines, Sr.; son, Larry James Martines; and daughters, Judy Ann Martines and Cecelia Martines.

 

Survivors include her son, Pete Martines and his wife, Maryanne White Martines, of Beaumont; daughters, Del M. Benson of Beaumont and Dixie M. Knowles and her husband, Jerry L. Knowles, Sr., of Houston, Texas; and brother, Raymond Ramos of Lufkin, Texas; sister-in-law, Pauline Martines Hunt of Nacogdoches, Texas; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews from both the Ramos and Martines families.

 

A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., with a gathering of Mrs. Martines’ family and friends to follow, Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2012, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Beaumont.

 

A luncheon will follow the burial at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Culotta Hall. All family and friends are welcome to attend.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Adams, Hunter Adams, Colt Clary, Kyle Buzbee, Jerry L. Knowles, Jr., T.J. Knowles, and Klint Rhodes.
