Dr. Ruth Christopher
May 10, 1947 - August 12, 2012

Dr. Ruth Christopher, 65, a medical doctor and a missionary, died Sunday, August 12, 2012, from injuries sustained from an automobile accident that occurred on Saturday, August 11th. Her husband, Mr. Devavaram Samuel Christopher, 69, a full time minister is in a critical condition at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth ICU, Beaumont.

Ruth was born in India in a Hindu family and accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of about 18, when she was in a Medical College in India. She was convinced that one could be saved (go to heaven) not because of what good things one has done but because of what He (Christ) has already done for us. Ruth faced opposition at home, outside and strangely within the Church too for her stand in Christ. She travelled all the continents along with her husband, preached Christ and fellowshipped with the saints wherever they went. Finally both of them took American citizenship to live with her brother in Beaumont who was one with them in Christ with common beliefs and cause for living.

A funeral service for Dr. Christopher will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
