Gwendolyn Joyce Knowles, 83, of Nederland, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2012, at Collier Park, Beaumont. The daughter of Minnie Gertude Barthe Wynn and Dow Wynn, Sr., she was born October 1, 1928, in Atlanta, Georgia, and had been a resident of Nederland since early childhood.

Survivors include her son, L. Denver “Chip” Knowles, Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Friendswood, Texas; daughter, Rebecca D. Knowles and John Snyder of Hines, Minnesota; grandsons, Matt and his wife, Angela; and Chris, all of Nederland; Nathan and Jordan of San Antonio; and great-grandchildren, Ashton and Austin of Nederland.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis Denver Knowles, Sr.; brother, Dow Wynn II; and sister, Gloria Wynn Weinbaum.

A gathering of Mrs. Knowles’ family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
