Elmer "Joe" Joseph Nevils 
December 30, 1918 - August 3, 2012

Elmer Joseph “Joe” Nevils, 92, of Nederland, died Friday, August 3, 2012, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on December 30, 1918, in Kinder, Louisiana, to Laura Fontenot Nevils and Paul Nevils, and had been a lifelong resident of the area.

 

Joe was a United States Marine Corps veteran having served as a Merchant Marine. He retired after thirty-two years of service with Iron Workers Local #125, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing.

 

Survivors include his sons, Charles J. Nevils of Groves; Melvin Wayne Nevils and his wife, Karen, of Fairbanks, Alaska; and Jeff Nevils and his wife, Debbie, of Nederland; daughters, Darlene Broussard of Hitchcock and Elaine Nevils of Port Arthur; and eleven grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Nevils.

 

A gathering of Mr. Nevils’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
