Fred Lamar Nelson, 86, of Beaumont, died Monday, July 9, 2012. He was born December 13, 1925, to Myrtle Leona Delaney Nelson and Albert Henry Nelson, in Smackover, Arkansas, and had been a resident of Beaumont for almost nine years. Fred was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II, and was a retired automobile mechanic. He was an ordained minister for many years and enjoyed working with almost everything. He also enjoyed working on cars and lawn mowers, building dog and birdhouses, painting signs, and watching antique car shows. Survivors include his son, Randy Nelson, of El Dorado, Arkansas; daughters, Brenda Harrell and her husband, Buddy, of Beaumont; Katherine McClain of Arkansas; and Jennifer Nelson of Michigan; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Louise McDonald of Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy May Pyle Nelson; and son, Billy Nelson. A gathering of Mr. Nelson’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium. |
