Rachel Carouthers, 50, of Sour Lake, died Sunday, July 8, 2012. She was born May 31, 1962, in Port Neches, to Dorothy Cile Sexton Billings and Billy Joe Billings, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Rachel devoted her time to taking care of others, and had been a member of First Baptist Church in Sour Lake for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Carouthers of Mount Belvieu; son, Brandon Carouthers; and mother, Dorothy Billings, both of Sour Lake; sisters, Cheryl Turner and her husband, Tommy, of Sour Lake; and Elaine Hoffpauir and her husband, Johnny, of Gonzales; and brother, Joe Billings and his wife, Pam, of Sour Lake; and many other loving family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father.

A gathering of Mrs. Carouthers’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
