Marjorie Reeves Heiner 
May 24, 1927 - July 4, 2012

Marjorie Reeves Heiner, 85, of Beaumont, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on May 24, 1927, in Beaumont, to Louise and LeRoy Franklin Reeves. When she was nine years old, her father died of a heart attack. Her mother later married Henry W. Kuritz, a widower with eight children of his own.

 

With her former husband, Marjorie was an active figure in the rice farming community. She was also an active member of St. John Lutheran Church volunteering on a wide variety of projects. Marjorie served as a Sunday school teacher, LWML representative, and held numerous offices within the church throughout her adult life. She loved to fish and garden, and it was often said that she could plant a stick and it would grow. Marjorie enjoyed this activity until her death.

 

Survivors include her son, Fred Heiner and his wife, Roberta; grandchildren, Andrew Heiner and his wife, Sarah; Cory Heiner; and Christine LeBlanc and her husband, Derick; great-grandchild, Audrey Heiner; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by brothers, LeRoy Reeves and Harold Reeves; step-brothers, Erwin Kuritz, Victor Kuritz, Lawrence Kuritz, Walter Kuritz, and Alfred Kuritz; and step-sisters, Lola Kuritz Bueckner and Helen Kuritz Burkett.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Heiner’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2955 South Major Drive, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
