John W. “Johnny” Shaw, Jr., 89, of Houston, formerly of Nederland, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in Houston.  A native of Vinton, Louisiana, Shaw lived most of his life in Texas.  He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy aboard the USS WARHAWK.  Shaw retired in 1980, as vice president and general manager of Sunoco Terminals, Nederland.

He is survived by his two daughters, Charlton Shaw and Penny Shaw Johnson; son-in-law, James M. Johnson; granddaughters, Penny Katelyn Johnson and Melissa Clare Johnson Leon; great-grandson, Gavin M. Leon; sister, Truehart Shaw Still; and niece, Lisa Still Beadle, all of Houston; and nephew, Peter M. Still of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

A graveside service for Mr. Shaw will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Big Woods Cemetery, Edgerly, Louisiana, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street, Suite M, Beaumont, Texas 77701, or to a charity of one’s choice.
