Harold Gene Fontenot, 76, of Beaumont, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2012. He was born September 15, 1935, in Kinder, Louisiana, to Effie Savant Fontenot and Curtis Fontenot, and had been a resident of the Beaumont area most of his life. Gene was a retired mechanic from BOMAC Contractors, and his favorite pastime was collecting and restoring Mustang cars.

Survivors include his sons, Danny Fontenot and Dean Fontenot, both of Beaumont, and David Fontenot and his wife, Wendy, of Orange; daughter, Mary Fontenot of Beaumont; grandchildren, Dustin, Brandon, Kyle, and Kevin Fontenot, and Courtney Meeks; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Rice; and sister, Daphne Boren of Crowley, Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Ruby Fontenot; son, Joe Fontenot; and brothers, Luther Fontenot and Tony Fontenot.

A gathering of Mr. Fontenot’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery.
