Earl “Frank” Long, 85, of Beaumont, died on Sunday, June 24, 2012. He was born in Beaumont on April 2, 1927, to Lucille Barbin Long and Clark Denny Long. His family moved to Gladewater, Texas where he resided until he joined the United States Navy in 1945. His Navy career included service during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the United States Navy, he began a second career with the Texas State Health Department. In his later years, he moved to Beaumont and resided at the Villas of Sunnyside Senior Complex. Frank loved reading, solving cross word puzzles, and the daily game of dominos with his neighbors. Survivors include his son, Geoffrey Keith and wife, Tammy Long; and grandson, Anthony Francis Long, all of Kenai, Alaska; and nieces, Brenda Beadle and Denise DeVersa, both of Beaumont, and Mari Myers of Houston. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Clark Francis Long; and sister, Lurlene Long Maywald. A Memorial Mass for Mr. Long will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 9, 2012, in the Chapel of St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the R. C. Miller Library, P.O.
