E. Jack Weaver 
October 5, 1928 - June 23, 2012

E. Jack Weaver, 83, died on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Beaumont Health Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's.


A native of Beaumont, he retired after thirty-eight years in the Engineering Department of Ideco, a Division of Dresser Industries, as the Supervisor of Engineering Services.

 

Jack married Katherine (Kitty) White in 1948 at First Baptist Church. In 1952, they joined Calder Baptist Church and he was ordained as a Deacon in 1962. Jack's favorite verse was: “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the House of My God than to dwell in the tents of the wicked." It was his favorite scripture and he could be found on Sunday mornings and evenings for thirty-five years at the door greeting worshipers as they entered the Chapel.


He is survived by his wife, Katherine Weaver; daughters, Kathleen Catrett and her husband, Walter, of Fort Worth; and Elizabeth Strahan and her husband, Bob, of Beaumont. Jack is loved by his grandchildren, John Catrett and his wife, Kristy, of Canyon Country, California; Mechelle Martin and her husband, Josh, of Granbury; Rob Strahan and Laura Segura, both of Beaumont; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Madleline Catrett, both of Canyon Country, California, Kathryn, Mykala, and Abigail Martin, all of Granbury, and Paige Strahan of Beaumont; great-grandson, Caleb Ganem of Blackshear, Georgia; brothers, William Weaver of Glendora, California and Ray Weaver of Port Neches; and sister, Billie Sterling of Beaumont.

 

A gathering of Mr. Weaver’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Calder Baptist Church, 1005 North 11th Street, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
