Guy Stripling Fulbright
August 7, 1963 - June 7, 2012

Guy Stripling Fulbright was born in Beaumont, Texas on August 7, 1963, to W. W. "Bud" Fulbright and Betty Stripling Fulbright.

In 1965, the family moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where Guy acquired a love for Cajun food, trail rides with his dad, and family vacations to Santa Rosa Island, Florida. Guy returned to Beaumont with his parents in 1977. He attended St. Anne's and graduated from Monsignor Kelly High School in 1981. Guy established many lifelong friendships, the closest being John Moorehouse and Frank Malley.

Following high school, Guy worked in the family business (Acme Transfer) with his dad and older brother, Tres. He later left the business and worked at Valspar Corporation for several years before becoming a Corrections Officer (CO5) at the Gist Unit. During the fifteen years Guy worked at Gist, he made numerous friends including Lieutenant David Schroeder.

At Crystal Beach in 1987, Guy met the love of his life, Autrey King. Together they spent many fun filled weekends with friends and family there. They enjoyed strolling along the beach with a Miller Lite in hand; fishing for hours on end, and playing with his dogs. Guy and Autrey celebrated their 24th Anniversary on April 23rd of this year.

Guy was a Master Beekeeper and turned a hobby into a thriving business, Fullhouse Honey, with his buddy John. He spent many hours enjoying nature and always had his trusty Bullmastiff, Keylo, by his side. An expert marksman, Guy had an extensive collection of guns and knives. In shooting and in life, Guy was always on target.

On June 7, 2012, Guy passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. During his fight, Guy never complained, always had a smile on his face, and so loved the many visits with his coworkers, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, Tres; and his dog, Keylo.

He is survived by his loving wife, Autrey King Fulbright; sister, Jensey Fulbright Hale and husband, Allen; nephew, Judd; niece, Bekah; and his uncle, Bob Stripling; along with many close friends.

A memorial service for Guy will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2012, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His private committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
